On site welding and repair work

A welder who arrives ready to work.

If it is too big, too heavy or too busy to move, the welding comes to it.

Swift Fabrication runs a mobile welding service from our Norwich workshop. A fully qualified welder arrives with welding plant, a generator, grinders, clamps and a stock of steel on board, so most repairs and alterations in mild steel and stainless steel are finished in one visit.

We work for commercial and domestic customers alike. It might be a cracked trailer chassis on a farm, a bracket to fit in a factory or a gate to rehang at a house. You get a free estimate and the price agreed with you before we start. Need a coded welder? Ask us. If the job grows into new steelwork, our workshop makes it.

What we weld on site

On site welding for farms, factories, sites and homes.

Tell us what it is, what it is made of and where it stands. We will tell you whether it can be welded in place or is better brought into our Norwich workshop.

01 / Farm, plant and trailers

Plant, trailer and farm machinery repairs.

Cracked chassis rails, worn buckets, broken drawbars, split hitches and tired loader brackets. We grind out the crack, weld it, then plate or stiffen it where the part needs more strength, in the yard or the field.

02 / Steelwork on site

Steelwork alterations and fitting.

We weld on brackets, cleats, stiffeners and pipe supports, alter beams and frames to suit changes on site, and repair handrails, platforms, stairs and machine guarding.

03 / Stainless and gates

Stainless pipework, gates and handrails.

TIG welding for stainless steel pipework and flanges, plus repairs to driveway, yard and security gates, hinges, posts and railings. Aluminium is possible on some jobs, so ask us and we will tell you what we can do.

How a mobile job works

A call, a free estimate and a sound weld.

Start by telling us what has broken or what needs fitting, what it is made of and where it is. A few photographs sent by phone or email usually show us the material, the thickness and the access, and whether one visit will do it.

We do not publish call out prices, because no two jobs are alike. Your free estimate is built from the travel from Norwich, the time on site, the materials and the welding process needed. Small jobs can often be estimated from photographs. The price is agreed with you before we start.

Before you call

What to tell us about the job.

Tell us what the item is, the material if you know it (mild steel or stainless steel), roughly how thick it is and what has gone wrong. Photographs of the damage and the area around it help us load the right plant and steel.

Tell us about the site too: the address, the access, how close we can park to the job, whether the work is at height or near fuel, hay or anything else that burns, and any permit or induction we need. Say if work has stopped.

Where our welders work

Mobile welders covering Norwich, Norfolk and Suffolk.

We are based in Norwich, and most of our mobile work is around the city and along the A47, A11 and A140 corridors. That puts Great Yarmouth, Dereham, Wymondham, Attleborough, Thetford and Diss within a sensible drive of our workshop.

Across the border into Suffolk we cover Lowestoft and Beccles on the A146, and we travel to King's Lynn, Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds by arrangement. For a breakdown that cannot wait, call 07495 409006 at any time, day or night.

Mobile welding questions

Questions we get asked most.

Do you need a power supply where the job is?

No. We can bring our own power. The welding plant runs from a generator we carry, so we can work in a field, a yard or an unfinished building. If there is a suitable supply close to the job, tell us and we may use it instead.

What metals can a mobile welder weld?

Mild steel and stainless steel are our everyday work, using MIG, TIG or MMA (stick) to suit the material, thickness and conditions. For aluminium or anything unusual, ask us and we will tell you what we can do.

How quickly can a mobile welder get to me?

It depends on where you are and what is already booked. Planned work is given a date that suits you. For urgent repairs we run a 24/7 call out service, and when you call we will tell you plainly how soon we can be with you.

How much does a mobile welding call out cost?

There is no fixed call out price, because distance, time on site, materials and access all change the figure. Send us the details and photographs and we will give you a free estimate, with the price agreed before any work starts. Smaller budgets are welcome.

Is it better to weld on site or in the workshop?

If it moves easily, the workshop is often cheaper and conditions are better. If it is fixed, heavy or needed back in use today, on site welding makes sense. We will advise you.
