Factory machinery installation

Getting a machine off the lorry and into production.

A machine is only as good as the floor, the base and the fixings it sits on.

Swift Fabrication carries out machinery installation for factories across Norfolk, Suffolk and East Anglia. We move machines into position on skates and toe jacks, level them, drill and anchor them to the floor, and fabricate the base frames and plinth steelwork they stand on.

We do the mechanical and steel side. Electrical connection and commissioning stay with your electricians or the machine supplier, and we work alongside both. Send us the machine weight, footprint and a layout drawing, and tell us about floor condition and access. Heavy lifts are planned with suitable hired plant.

Install, fabricate, relocate

Machinery installation, bases and machine moves.

Every job starts with a site visit or your drawings. You get a free estimate, and the price is agreed with you before we start.

01 / Positioning and fixing

Skates, jacks, levelling and anchor bolts.

We raise the machine with toe jacks, roll it into place on machine skates and set it to your layout marks. It is then levelled with shims or jacking bolts, the floor is drilled, and anchor bolts are fitted to the maker's fixing details.

02 / Bases and steelwork

Base frames, plinths, guards and platforms.

In our Norwich workshop we fabricate base frames, plinth steelwork, guarding, access platforms and steps, and pipe and services supports. Modifications can be welded on site to suit.

03 / Machine relocation

Machine moves within or between sites.

Moving a machine across the shop floor or to another site? Once your engineers have disconnected services, we unbolt it, plan the route and the lifting, then reposition, level and anchor it.

Planned around production

Installation work that fits your shutdown.

Food, packaging and manufacturing sites cannot stop a line to suit a contractor. We plan machinery installation around your production, including shutdowns, nights and weekends, and agree the sequence with your engineering team before anyone is on site.

"We needed our system repaired ASAP as we have a busy production line and we were extremely pleased with Swift Fabrication's attentiveness and professionalism. We will be using Swift Fabrication Services again in the future." Trusted customer

Tell us your shutdown dates, induction and hygiene rules and permit system when you enquire. We provide RAMS for site work.

When a machine or line is down

A broken frame will not wait for Monday.

A cracked machine frame, failed bracket or damaged conveyor support can stop a whole line. Our 24/7 call out service covers repair welding on site. Tell us what broke, the material, where you are and what access and power are available.

We make the job safe first, then agree the permanent repair with you. Do not run damaged equipment to get through a shift. Call 07495 409006 and we will tell you how soon we can be with you.

Machinery installation FAQs

Machine installation questions.

Do you connect the electrics and commission?

No. We do the mechanical and steel side: positioning, levelling, anchoring and fabrication. Electrical connection and commissioning are carried out by your electricians or the machine supplier.

Can you install machinery at night, at weekends or in a shutdown?

Yes. Most factory work has to fit around production, so we plan for shutdowns, nights and weekends. Give us your dates as early as you can so labour, steel and any hired plant are lined up.

How do you lift and move a heavy machine?

Most machines are raised with toe jacks and moved on skates. Heavier or awkward lifts are planned with suitable hired plant, such as a forklift or crane, with the method agreed with you first.

Can you make a base or frame for our machine?

Yes. We fabricate base frames, plinth steelwork, guarding and platforms in mild or stainless steel, from your drawings or the supplier's foundation details. Finishes such as paint or galvanising can be arranged.
