A gate has to fit the opening it hangs in, swing clear of the ground and close square every time it is used.
Swift Fabrication makes metal gates and railings to measure for homes, farms, estates and commercial yards across Norfolk and Suffolk. Driveway pairs, single and sliding gates, side and garden gates, security gates and railing panels.
We fabricate and fit the steel only: gate leaves, posts, hinges, latches, drop bolts and railing panels. We do not build brick piers or walls, carry out groundworks or supply automation. Your gates hang on your existing piers or walls, or on new steel posts we make, and frames can be made automation-ready for your own installer.

How gates and railings are made
Made in separate pieces, finished, then hung.
Each leaf, each post and each railing panel is built as its own piece in our Norwich workshop, then finished before anything comes to site.
Galvanising or powder coating arranged.
Bare steel left outdoors will rust, so the finish matters. Primer and paint, galvanising or powder coating in your chosen colour can be arranged before delivery. Near the coast, ask us about galvanising.
Hung on your piers, walls or posts.
We deliver the finished pieces and hang them on site, fixing to sound existing piers or walls, or to new steel posts. Leaves are lined, levelled and adjusted so they meet cleanly and latch properly.
What we need to quote you
The right measurements make a quote accurate.
Send the clear opening width, the height you want and what the gate will fix to: brick piers, a wall, timber or new steel posts. Tell us if the ground rises or falls across the opening or along the swing of the gate.
Add photographs of the opening, a sketch or pictures of styles you like, and the finish you want. Say whether the gates will be automated, because the frame needs the rigidity and bracket positions agreed with your installer before we build.
We make and fit the steel only. Brick piers, walls, post foundations and groundworks are for your builder, and automation is supplied by your own installer. We can give both the dimensions they need to work from.
Steel railings and security gates
Railings and gates for yards and boundaries.
Metal railings are made as panels to sit on top of a wall, between piers or on their own posts along a boundary. Panels are sized to your wall, stepped or raked where the ground falls, and fixed on site.
For commercial yards, farms and estates we make security gates, wide farm and estate gates, sliding gate frames and matching fencing panels. We also repair and rehang gates that have dropped, seized or been hit.

Before you order gates or railings.
Do you build the brick gate piers?
No. We are the steel makers, so we fabricate and fit the gates, posts and railings only. Your builder looks after piers, walls and foundations, and we give them the dimensions and fixing positions.
Do you supply gate automation?
No, but we make frames automation-ready. Tell us early, and we agree the rigidity and bracket positions with your installer before the gates are built.
What do you need to quote for metal gates?
The opening width, the height you want, what the gate fixes to, any fall in the ground, photographs or a sketch of the style, and the finish. With those we can give a free estimate for most gates.
Can you repair or rehang an existing gate?
Yes. Dropped hinges, seized pivots, broken latches and impact damage can often be repaired on site by our mobile welder, or the gate taken back to the workshop.
