Machinery installation in King's Lynn

Plan your install with us

A new line for a King's Lynn factory is a project, not a day trip. We survey, make the steel in Norwich, send it on ahead, then stay with the job for as many days in a row as it takes to set every machine.

Multi day installsFree estimate first

King's Lynn, about 44 miles west of our Norwich workshop along the A47.

Factory installs, King's Lynn

At 44 miles, a King's Lynn install runs to a plan.

Nobody wants a crew crossing Norfolk twice for a forgotten box of bolts.

Our machinery installation in King's Lynn is aimed at the manufacturers and food producers on the Hardwick and North Lynn industrial estates and around the Nar Ouse business area. Distance shapes the way we work here. Bigger jobs suit it: several machines, a full line, or one large machine with its platforms, handled as a single visit of several days.

Swift takes the mechanical and steel scope: positioning, levelling, anchoring and fabricated steelwork. Electrical connection and commissioning rest with your electricians or the machine supplier, and the programme shows where each trade comes in. Early on we ask for machine weights, footprints, the layout and delivery dates. Cranes or heavy forklifts are hired in for the lifts that need them.

Survey, send ahead, install

Factory machinery installation, a phase at a time.

On a job of any size, a survey trip to West Norfolk comes first. The estimate that follows is free, and the price is fixed between us before steel is ordered.

01 / Survey and programme

One thorough visit, then a day by day plan.

During the survey we measure the hall, the doors and the route from the yard, look at the slab and mark out with your engineers. A day by day programme follows: which machine lands when, which lifts need hired plant, and when the electricians can follow on.

02 / Steel sent ahead

Bases, platforms and guards delivered first.

Base frames, access platforms, stairs, guarding and pipe supports are fabricated in Norwich and delivered to King's Lynn by lorry before the crew arrives, so the first morning is spent setting out, not waiting.

03 / Days on site

Machine by machine until it is done.

One crew works the days back to back. Each machine is skated in or lifted into place, levelled, anchored and guarded before the next is started, with a short handover to your engineer as every shift ends.

Production keeps going

Phased so the rest of the plant still runs.

A King's Lynn factory seldom stops altogether for an install. The work is split into phases, our area is fenced and signed, routes stay open for your forklifts, and noisy or hot work is kept for the hours you choose, be that a night shift, a weekend or a holiday stop.

A King's Lynn note: some plant reaches West Norfolk by sea through the port on the Great Ouse, and wide or heavy loads can be given set travel times by road. If your machine is coming that way, pass us the haulier's details early, so the offloading plant and our crew meet it on the right day.

Inducting a crew for several days takes time. Send induction, permit and hygiene requirements early. RAMS will reach you before we travel.

Breakdowns in King's Lynn

A long drive, so a straight answer first.

Frames crack and conveyor supports fail in West Norfolk as they do anywhere. Repair welding is part of our 24/7 call out, but King's Lynn is covered by arrangement, not as a quick dash. Ring with what failed, the material, the access and the power on hand.

You will hear on that call whether we can come, and when, allowing for some 44 miles of A47. If we attend, the first task is making safe, and the permanent repair is agreed afterwards. The number is 07495 409006.

King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Machinery installers for West Norfolk's industry.

King's Lynn is West Norfolk's main town and lies at the far end of the A47 from us, beyond Dereham and Swaffham. For Hardwick, North Lynn or the Nar Ouse area, the lorry route, the unloading spot and any crane position are all settled at survey stage.

Downham Market, Terrington, Dersingham and Hunstanton are served on the same footing, as are packhouses and farm processing sites out in the Fens. Machinery relocation in King's Lynn, between estates or out to a Fenland site, is programmed exactly like a new install.

King's Lynn install FAQs

Planning questions, answered.

Do you stay over in King's Lynn for a long job?

On longer jobs we can, where that costs you less than daily travel, and the estimate will show which we have allowed for. The aim is one crew from first day to last, so nothing is lost between shifts.

How much notice do you need for a large install in King's Lynn?

For a full line, think in weeks, not days. Steel has to be drawn, made and finished, plant hired and inductions booked. A single machine needs less. Call once you have a delivery date, even a rough one.

Is King's Lynn too far for a small job?

Not if it is planned. Travel is a real cost at this distance, so a small job works when we can survey from photos and drawings and finish everything in one visit. If it does not add up, we will say so.

Can you build platforms and pipe supports too?

Yes. Access platforms with handrails, stairs, pipe and cable supports and guarding are made in mild or stainless steel, working from your drawings or the supplier's. Loadings come from your engineer. Finishes can be arranged.
