Line installs in Attleborough

Attleborough lines grow one machine at a time.

Most packing halls are never finished. Another machine is always on order.

Our machinery installation in Attleborough suits the food processors, packers and distribution sheds around Haverscroft Industrial Estate and Bunns Bank. The usual job is one addition to a working line: a checkweigher, a case packer, a length of conveyor or a wrapper at the far end, skated in, lined up with its neighbours, levelled and fixed to the slab.

Our part is mechanical and steel. Wiring, controls and commissioning belong to your electricians or the equipment supplier, and we are used to sharing a short slot with both. To price the job we ask for the machine weight and footprint, a layout showing the line it joins, the conveyor heights either side and a word on the floor. Loads beyond jacks and skates are lifted with hired plant.

Set, support, guard, shift

Machinery installation for Attleborough packers.

It begins with a walk along the line or a look at your layout. The estimate costs nothing, and the price is settled with you before a date goes in the diary.

01 / Joining the line

Heights matched, centres lined, feet fixed.

A new machine has to meet the conveyors on both sides of it. We skate it to the marks, check infeed and outfeed heights against the existing line, adjust or pack the feet until it sits true, then drill the slab and anchor it to the maker's detail.

02 / Steel around it

Conveyor legs, guards, steps and crossovers.

Conveyor support legs, mesh or sheet guards, crossover steps so staff can get over a line, and brackets for pipes and cable tray are all made in Norwich, in mild or stainless steel to suit the area.

03 / Shifting machines

Reshuffling a hall or changing unit.

Layouts change when a new product or contract lands. After your engineers disconnect the services, we lift the anchors, take machines across the hall or to another Attleborough unit, and set them up again.

Between production runs

Short slots, with the line back on Monday.

Few Attleborough food sites can spare a week. More often the gap runs from Friday night to Sunday, or sits between two product runs. So every leg, guard and bracket is made beforehand, the order of work is agreed with your engineers, and the area is left clean and clear for the first shift.

An Attleborough note: much of what is packed here leaves by lorry up the A11, so yards and loading doors are rarely empty. Tell us when goods in and despatch are quiet, which door the machine can come through, and whether your own forklift can help unload.

Include hygiene and clothing rules, induction times and your permit to work system in the enquiry. RAMS reach you ahead of the job.

Stoppages in Attleborough

One sheared leg can stop every pallet.

If a conveyor support gives way, a wrapper frame cracks or a forklift flattens a guard post, ring us. Repair welding on site comes under our 24/7 call out, in mild or stainless steel. Say what failed, what it is made of and which hot work rules apply.

We are roughly 17 miles up the A11, and on the phone you will hear when we can realistically reach you. Making it safe comes first, a lasting repair second. Ring 07495 409006 before anyone is tempted to run on a damaged frame.

Attleborough and the A11

Machine installers between Wymondham and Thetford.

Attleborough is a quick run from our workshop: out on the A11, past Wymondham, then off at the junctions for Haverscroft or Bunns Bank. Repeat visits are practical at that distance, which suits lines that gain a machine at a time through the year.

Snetterton business park, Old Buckenham, Great Ellingham and Banham are covered too, along with farms and packhouses across this corner of Norfolk. Got a second plant in Suffolk or further into East Anglia? One survey trip and one batch of steel can often serve both.

Attleborough install FAQs

Questions from packing halls.

Can you add a machine while the rest of the line runs?

Often, yes. Supports and guards can be built beside a live line with our area screened off, leaving the final tie in for a planned stop. Your engineers decide what is safe to keep running, and hot work follows your permits.

Do you install conveyors and end of line equipment in Attleborough?

Yes, the mechanical side of it. We position, level and anchor conveyors, packers, wrappers and similar kit, and make their support steel. Belt tracking, sensors and controls are set up by the supplier or your engineers.

Will one new machine need a full shutdown?

Not usually. A single machine can often go in over a weekend or a night shift, provided the steel is made in advance and the route is clear. After the survey we will tell you how long we need the area for.

Can you make barriers to keep forklifts off our machines?

Yes. We fabricate bolt down barrier rails, bollards and corner guards from heavy box section or tube, with paint or galvanising arranged. Show us where the trucks run and we will suggest where protection earns its keep.
