Bury St Edmunds, about 41 miles south west, down the A14.

Fitting plant on a brewing town's sites

Getting a machine off the wagon and into production.

A tank or filler is only as steady as the base, the levelling and the anchor bolts underneath it.

We handle the mechanical and steel side of new plant arriving on the food, drink and manufacturing sites around Bury St Edmunds: rolling a tank or a filler into place, levelling it, drilling and bolting it down, and welding the base it sits on.

Your electricians or the equipment maker keep the wiring and commissioning, and we work around them rather than in their way. Send the weight, footprint and a layout drawing, along with a note on floor condition and the route in.

Install, fabricate, relocate

Installs and moves for a brewing and bottling town.

Every job starts with a site visit or your drawings. You get a free estimate, and the price is agreed before we start.

01 / Positioning and fixing

Toe jacks, skates and setting to your marks.

The tank or line goes up on toe jacks, rolls into place on skates and is set against your layout marks, shimmed level, then drilled and bolted down to the details on the maker's drawing.

02 / Bases and steelwork

Frames, plinths and access steel, made ahead.

Tank supports, plinths, guarding and small access platforms for the kit used on food and drink lines are all welded up in Norwich first, so a lot of the work is already done before the van reaches the A14.

03 / Machine relocation

Moving plant within or between sites.

A mixer or filler shifting to another part of the building, or to a different Suffolk site, still needs the same care. Once your engineers isolate it, we unbolt, plan the route out and set it down again properly.

Planned around production

Installation timed to your brewing and bottling runs.

A brewery or bottling line here does not stop just because a contractor has turned up. We build the installation plan around your run pattern, whether that means a night shift, a weekend or a full shutdown week.

Bury St Edmunds is further from Norwich than most of the towns we cover, so shutdown dates matter even more here: the steel and the team travel together, once, for the window you give us.

Tell us your shutdown dates, hygiene rules and permit system when you enquire. We provide RAMS for site work.

When a machine or line is down

A cracked frame will not wait for the next batch.

A cracked machine frame, failed bracket or damaged conveyor support can stop a whole run. Our emergency welding line covers Bury St Edmunds by arrangement. Tell us what broke, the material and where you are.

We make the frame safe before anything else, then talk through the permanent fix with you. Keep damaged equipment switched off rather than pushing through a batch. Call 07495 409006 and we will give you a straight answer on timing.

Where we install machinery

Serving West Suffolk's food and drink sites.

From Norwich we reach the production sites on Eastern Way, Northern Way and Suffolk Business Park, as well as units at Moreton Hall. The same team fabricates the steel and installs it.

Trips are planned with other Suffolk work where we can, since Bury St Edmunds sits at the far end of our travel range. Give us plenty of notice for shutdown dates so this can be arranged well.

Machinery installation FAQs

Questions on installing plant here.

Do you handle the electrical side of a fit?

No. Our part is the mechanical and steel work: getting the plant into position, level and anchored, plus any steel it stands on. Wiring and commissioning sit with your electricians or the equipment maker.

Can you install machinery at night or on a shutdown?

Yes, that is normal for a food or drink site. Tell us your shutdown window as early as you can, since the distance from Norwich means we book the van and the team around that one trip.

How do you lift and move a heavy tank or filler?

Toe jacks and skates handle most of what we see on food and drink sites. For an awkward or heavier item we bring in suitable hired plant and agree the lifting method with you before the day.

Can you make a base or frame for our equipment?

Yes. Base frames, plinth steelwork, guarding and small platforms are welded up in mild or stainless steel, either from your drawing or the supplier's foundation sheet, with a finish arranged if you want one.
