Machine moving Great Yarmouth

Great Yarmouth workshops need machines that stay put.

By the harbour, the steel under a machine matters as much as the machine itself.

We carry out machinery installation in Great Yarmouth for the engineering firms, offshore supply base workshops and processors that work around the port and outer harbour. Lathes, saws, test rigs, tanks and process plant are jacked, skated into position, levelled and fixed to the slab on steel we fabricate ourselves.

Swift handle the mechanical and steel work only. Your electricians or the equipment supplier make the electrical connection and commission the machine, and we plan our days around them. Tell us the weight, the footprint and how close the unit is to the water. Where a lift is beyond jacks and skates, a forklift or crane is hired in for it.

Move in, fix down, protect

Machinery installation for port and energy firms.

Send a layout or let us drive over and look. Estimates cost nothing, and the figure is settled with you before we load the van.

01 / Into the workshop

Through the roller door and onto its marks.

Units at Gapton Hall and Harfreys usually give a forklift good access to the door. From there the machine goes onto skates, is steered to your floor marks, brought level with shims or jacking screws and held down with anchors suited to the slab.

02 / Steel for salt air

Galvanised bases, stainless where it counts.

Anything near the quay rusts fast. Base frames, guards, platforms and pipe supports are made in Norwich, with galvanising, paint systems or stainless steel arranged to suit how exposed your site is.

03 / Relocating plant

From one Yarmouth unit to another.

Firms outgrow a South Denes shed and move to Beacon Park at Gorleston. With services disconnected by your own engineers, we release the fixings, plan the lift and transport, and reinstall the machine at the other end.

Around vessel schedules

Installs timed to suit a busy supply base.

Work in Great Yarmouth often runs to a vessel or project date, not a Monday to Friday week. We can install overnight or at a weekend, and we agree the order of jobs with your workshop manager first so your fitters and ours are not in each other's way.

Local note: on the South Denes peninsula and the river quays, wind and spray reach inside open workshops. If a machine will sit near the door, tell us. We can allow for galvanised or stainless fixings and a coating on the base before it is ever installed.

Let us know about port passes, site inductions, permits and any hot work rules when you first call. RAMS are provided for site work.

Breakdowns in Great Yarmouth

A failed frame can hold up a whole job.

If a machine base cracks, a support fails or a handling frame is damaged, our 24/7 call out covers repair welding at your premises. Give us the fault, the metal involved, your location in Yarmouth or Gorleston, and what power and access there is.

Making the area safe comes first. The permanent repair is then agreed with you and priced. Please do not keep damaged kit running. Ring 07495 409006 and we will be clear about when we can get to you.

Machinery installers for the east Norfolk coast.

As well as the port, South Denes, Harfreys, Gapton Hall and Beacon Park, we install machinery in Gorleston, Bradwell, Caister and Acle. Factory machinery installation for a food or packing site is welcome too, on the coast or inland.

Great Yarmouth install FAQs

Questions about Yarmouth installs.

Do you cover Gorleston, Bradwell and Caister?

Yes. Great Yarmouth and the towns around it are an easy run for us from Norwich along the A47. Beacon Park, Gapton Hall and the villages towards Acle are all within the same trip, and estimates are free.

Should a machine base near the harbour be galvanised or stainless?

It depends on exposure and what the machine does. Galvanised mild steel suits most bases and platforms, stainless suits wash down or food areas. We will talk it through and arrange the finish for you.

Who connects the power once it is installed?

Your electricians or the machine supplier. We set the machine, level it, anchor it and build the steelwork around it, then hand over to them for electrical connection and commissioning.

Can you lift heavy plant off a lorry in Yarmouth?

Yes, with the right plant. We plan the offload with a hired forklift, telehandler or crane sized for the load, and agree where the lorry stands and the lift method with you beforehand. Skates and toe jacks do the rest inside.
