Metal gates and railings in King's Lynn

Quote for gates in King's Lynn

Metal gates in King's Lynn are a planned job, not a quick call round. The town is about 44 miles from our Norwich workshop, so we measure in one visit, make every piece complete, and hang in a second. Railings, driveway gates, Fen farm gates and yard security gates.

Two visits, plannedMeasure once, hang once

King's Lynn, about 44 miles west of our Norwich workshop along the A47.

Railings, farm and security gates

Metal gates made complete, because West Norfolk is a long drive.

When a site is on the far side of Norfolk, a missing bracket or a hole drilled in the wrong place costs a whole day.

So metal gates for King's Lynn are proved before they leave. Each pair is set up in the workshop, the latch and drop bolts are tried, and only then is it taken apart and sent for coating. Driveway gates, railing panels, wide farm gates and security gates are all made this way.

The steel is ours from start to finish: gate leaves, posts, hinges, latches, drop bolts and railing panels, fabricated and fitted by Swift Fabrication. The rest is not. A West Norfolk builder should take on brick piers, walls, post concrete and groundworks, and a gate automation company supplies the motors. Being this far away, we agree sizes with both in advance and make the frame automation-ready where asked.

How a long distance job works

One trip to measure, one trip to hang it all.

We are open about the distance. It does not stop us taking on gates in West Norfolk, but it shapes how the work is planned from the first call.

01 / Survey

Everything measured in a single visit.

Your photographs and sizes get you an estimate. If you go ahead, we come over once and record the lot: widths top and bottom, pier plumb, ground levels through the swing, fixing surfaces and access for the delivery.

02 / Make and prove

Assembled in Norwich before coating.

Leaves, posts and panels are welded as separate pieces, then put together in the workshop to check gaps and latching. After that, galvanising or powder coating can be arranged. Out on the open Fens, galvanising is the finish we would point you to.

03 / Hanging day

All the steel on one load, one visit.

We agree a date, load every piece with its fixings and drive over on the A47. Gates are fixed to sound piers, walls or our own steel posts, set level and adjusted on the day, so nothing is left waiting for a return trip.

Pricing a King's Lynn job

Good photographs save a wasted journey.

Before anyone travels, send the clear width of the opening, the height you want, what the gates will hang from and how the ground runs. Wide shots of the whole entrance and close ups of the piers or wall ends tell us most of what we need.

On Fen roads, mention any dyke, culvert or verge beside the entrance, since it affects which way a gate can swing and where a lorry can unload. In the old streets near the quays, check whether consent is needed, which is for you to arrange. And say if the gates are to be motorised.

Steelwork is the whole of our part. Piers, walls, post foundations and any groundworks want a local builder on site before we come to hang, and motors want an automation installer. Both will get setting out sizes from us in good time.

Old town, port and Fen farms

Railings and security gates in King's Lynn.

The historic streets of King's Lynn have railed fronts and steps where panels need replacing or adding. We make them to the wall length and the pattern you have agreed, and fix them in a planned visit along with any small gate to match.

Round the port and on the Hardwick, North Lynn and Nar Ouse estates the need is security: tall swing or sliding gate frames and fence panels in heavy box section. Out on the Fens it is wide farm gates for yards and droves. Urgent gate repairs this far out are by arrangement.

Beyond the town we take on gates in Downham Market, Terrington, Dersingham and Hunstanton. Measuring and hanging visits to West Norfolk are booked ahead, so tell us early if you are working to a date.

A free estimate comes from your sizes and photographs, with no visit needed at that stage. Sizes are confirmed on site before steel is ordered, and the price is agreed with you first.

King's Lynn gate FAQs

Questions about distance and detail.

Is King's Lynn too far for you?

No. It is about 44 miles along the A47, so we plan it as two visits, one to measure and one to hang, and make the gates complete in between. What we cannot offer this far out is dropping in at short notice.

Can you make wide Fen farm gates?

Yes. Long leaves are braced to stay straight and hung on heavy steel posts. Setting those posts in concrete is for you or your builder, to the centres and depth we give.

Do you make gates for industrial estates?

Yes. For units on Hardwick, North Lynn or near the docks we make swing and sliding gate frames, posts and matching fence panels. Ground tracks, concrete and drive motors are by others, and we work to their details so it all meets on the day.

Can you replace railings on a period house?

Yes. We make steel panels to the pattern and sizes agreed. If the building is listed or in a conservation area, consent is your side, and we build to what is approved.
