Steel gates for Ipswich's new estates
New housing growth around Ipswich means new driveways, and new driveways need gates. We make steel gates and railings to measure in Norwich, then deliver and hang them on your plot.
Ipswich, about 43 miles south of our Norwich workshop.
Gates for Ipswich's new driveways
A gate on a new build plot has to fit an opening that may still be settling, and still close square every time.
The new housing rising around Ipswich keeps Swift Fabrication busy with gates and railings made to measure, alongside farms, estates and yards further into Suffolk. Driveway pairs, single and sliding gates, side gates and railing panels all come from the same workshop.
Steel is our side of the job: gate leaves, posts, hinges, latches and railing panels. Piers, walls, groundworks and automation belong elsewhere. A new build plot usually means hanging on posts we supply, though existing piers your builder has set work just as well, and frames can be made automation-ready.

How Ipswich gates get made
Each leaf, post and railing panel starts as its own piece at the Norwich workshop, finished there before making the trip down to your Ipswich plot.
Box section forms the frame, filled with flat, round or square bar to match the estate's style. A flat bench keeps each leaf square while it is welded, then hinges, latch plates and drop bolts go on.
Left bare outdoors, steel rusts, so the finish matters. Primer, paint, galvanising or powder coating in a colour of your choosing can all be arranged ahead of delivery to Ipswich.
Delivery and hanging happen together: pieces get fixed to whatever piers, walls or new posts are ready on site. Leaves are lined, levelled and adjusted until they meet cleanly and latch without forcing.
What we need to quote you
Give us the clear opening width, the height wanted, and what the gate fixes to, whether that is a brick pier, a wall or a new steel post. A rise or fall in the ground across the opening matters too, especially on a plot still being landscaped.
Photographs of the opening, a sketch, or pictures of a style you like all help, along with the finish you are after. Mention automation early, since the frame's rigidity and bracket positions need agreeing with your installer before we build.
Steel is what we make and fit. Piers, walls, foundations and groundworks are your builder's job, automation your installer's, and both get the dimensions they need from us to work to.
Railings and security gates too
Railings come as panels sized to sit on a wall, between piers, or on their own posts along a boundary, and a plot with levels still settling gets panels stepped or raked to suit. Fixing happens on site once the panels arrive.
Commercial yards and the older estates further out also bring us security gates, wide farm gates, sliding frames and matching fencing, plus the odd gate that has dropped, seized or taken a knock and needs rehanging.

Norwich, about 43 miles north, is where every gate gets made, before travelling down to hang on Ipswich's newer estates and its older streets alike, or further out to farms and yards across Suffolk.
A free estimate needs only measurements and photographs to start. Sizes on your Ipswich plot get checked before any steel is cut, and the price is settled with you first.

No. The steel side, gates, posts and railings, is ours to fabricate and fit. Your builder handles piers, walls and foundations, and we pass over the dimensions and fixing positions needed.
No, but a frame can be built automation-ready. Say so early, so bracket positions and rigidity get agreed with your installer before fabrication starts.
Opening width, height wanted, what the gate fixes to, any fall in the ground, a photograph or sketch of the style and the finish, that is generally enough for a free estimate.
Yes. A dropped hinge, a seized pivot, a broken latch or impact damage usually gets fixed where it stands by our mobile welder, or the gate comes back to Norwich for a full repair.
